OVERVIEW
The Strings Programme is a two-week intensive for advanced violinists, violists, and cellists, focused on individual study and performance.
Students work closely with faculty in dedicated studios, engaging in a structured curriculum that includes private lessons, studio classes, technique workshops, and performance opportunities such as masterclasses, student concerts, and a side-by-side concert with faculty.
The programme is designed to support both technical development and artistic growth within a collaborative, international environment.

Programme Structure
Participants take part in an intensive programme centred on individual study and performance, working closely with faculty in dedicated studios and a structured environment that emphasises technical development, artistic growth, and consistent performance opportunities.
All students receive:
Two private lessons per week
Weekly studio classes
Technique and career workshops
Masterclasses
Participants perform regularly in:
Student concerts
Studio performances
Public masterclasses
Side-by-side concert with faculty
Alongside the festival curriculum, participants experience Singapore’s vibrant cultural environment. The programme balances intensive study with time for exploration, community, and sightseeing.
Audition Requirements
AUDITION VIDEOS
Please submit two contrasting works of any length that best represent your current playing level. Accompaniment is recommended but not required.
Videos must be unedited, recorded within the past year, and clearly show your hands and face.
All auditions are conducted entirely via pre-recorded video to ensure accessibility for international applicants.
LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION
Please submit one letter of recommendation from an artist, teacher, or collaborator who can speak to your musicianship and chamber music experience.
The letter must be submitted directly by the recommender via Acceptd.
APPLICATION DEADLINE
Applications must be received by 15 January 2027 for priority consideration for admission and scholarship funding.
After this date, applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis only as space permits. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply before the deadline, as available places and financial assistance are very limited once the priority deadline has passed.
CHAMBER FELLOWSHIP
The Chamber Fellowshipis a highly selective, full-tuition, fully funded fellowship for outstanding young string players with exceptional musicianship and a strong commitment to collaborative performance. Fellows participate fully in the Strings Programme, with additional chamber music rehearsals and performances alongside faculty and guest artists.

All applicants are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships, which are awarded based on the exceptional artistic achievement demonstrated through the application and audition process.
Applicants wishing to be considered for need-based scholarships will be asked to provide additional information regarding their financial circumstances. This may include:

Students are accepted into a specific faculty member’s studio for the duration of their session. Your assigned studio teacher will be your primary instructor throughout the two-week programme, providing lessons, guidance, and mentorship.
When indicating your first and second choice faculty members, please be aware that admission decisions are made by the faculty, and placement in a particular studio is subject to availability and the discretion of the instructors.

The Chamber Fellowship is a fully funded, two-week intensive for advanced string musicians with a strong interest in chamber music. Fellows receive full tuition and housing and participate fully in the Strings Programme.
Please indicate whether you would like to be considered for the Chamber Fellowship. Applicants not selected for the Fellowship may still be considered for admission to the Strings Programme.

Residential Mentors support students staying in festival-arranged housing and help foster a safe, welcoming, and engaging community. In recognition of their contributions, mentors receive a full scholarship.
Applicants must be at least 20 years old, attend the full programme, arrive early for mentor training, and be available to assist students throughout the festival. Preference will be given to applicants with leadership, mentoring, or event coordination experience, as well as familiarity with Singapore.

The letter should be submitted directly through Acceptd. If your referee is unable to upload the letter online, it may be emailed to the festival administration office.

To complete your application, please ensure the non-refundable application fee of USD 75 has been paid.
Application fees are waived for students currently enrolled at NAFA and at NAFA School of Young Talents. To request a waiver, please contact us.
If you are unable to afford the application fee due to financial circumstances, you are encouraged to apply for fee waivers through Acceptd.
